Last week at our statewide tourism conference, we challenged our industry partners to find creative ways to spell out LOVE at their destinations. This idea builds on the incredibly popular LOVE artworks that we launched this summer at our Welcome Centers and then in the Bring LOVE to Your Town and Bring LOVE to Your Winery contests. Our goal behind the LOVE is to share the message that “Love is at the heart of every Virginia vacation.”
VTC invites Virginia
destinations is to find creative ways to bring LOVE to life that ties into the Virginia is for Lovers campaign but also showcases the destinations unique attributes and appeals to family travelers.
Primland Resort took that message to heart and spent five hours arranging nearly 2,000 golf balls on their putting practice green to spell the world LOVE. They also timed it perfectly as the VTC PR staff were there with several visiting journalists as part of a Southwest Virginia media tour.
I did the best I could to take a few pictures, luckily Primland was shooting aerial photograph that day so stay tuned for those pictures.
What’s next for LOVE? I got an email last week from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts that they plan to spell out LOVE this Saturday at 10 a.m. with people all dressed as mummies in celebration of their upcoming exhibit Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb, which opens November 19, 2011 and runs through March 11, 2012. Who doesn’t love their mummy?
