Collect your favorite people, be they friends or family, and converge on a cabin or lodge big enough to suit you all this Thanksgiving. What could be more fun than a long weekend with those you love to spend time with?

These cabins and lodges have been chosen based on the number of people each can accommodate, as well as their amenities. Start your list of menu ingredients and let’s get this Thanksgiving weekend booked!

— CABIN CAPITAL OF VIRGINIA —

You might have heard that Luray is the Cabin Capital of Virginia. If not, you have now. The city holds the title thanks to the number of cabins available, all of which are adjacent to the spectacular Shenandoah National Park. The views are excellent and the cabins and lodges are equally impressive. Massanutten Resort and Luray Caverns are nearby.

– A collection of three “Absolute Perfect Escape” Log Cabins are available to choose from. APE #1 sleeps up to 20 in its six bedrooms. It and its sister cabins were made for extended stays! APE #2 sleeps up to 16 and APE #3 will accommodate eight.

— IN THE ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS —

Bath County is where you’ll find The Omni Homestead Resort and all its outdoor recreation opportunities, not to mention great dining. If there are quite a few of you getting together, you can certainly pay to enjoy some of the resort activities (or at least a great meal!) without the stay. Check out these gems:

— NELSON 151 AND MORE —

Home to several craft breweries and wineries, not to mention a cidery, Nelson County has its own beverage trail – the Nelson 151. In addition, Wintergreen Resort and all its amenities are just minutes away from these stays:

— ROOM TO ROAM —

Twenty-five secluded acres are available to you when you stay at The Cheyenne at Appomattox. River access lets you cast a line for fishing, while nearby State Forest allows you to hunt, if you wish. Horse friendly with fenced pasture. Hiking trails, too! The Cheyenne sleeps up to nine, but an adjacent bunkhouse will accommodate another eight to ten and is equipped with game room amenities.

Horses and ATVs are welcome at The Stillhouse in Hillsville. A barn of six stalls is available for your equine, while the lodge itself is ready for up to 18 family and friends. Trails and water frontage make this 137-acre reprieve the perfect place for an outdoor-loving group to spend Thanksgiving.

Bring the sleeping bags and spread out at Journey Cabin on Clinch River Farms in Pounding Mill. The cabin is actually a pole barn with a bedroom, two full baths, and a loft area for ten. The large deck is a natural hangout, but it’s the 70 acres and activity rentals that are the draw. Want to try ATVing? A four-wheeler or side-by-side are available for rent. You can also reserve a fishing lesson or inquire about rock climbing and rappelling.
